ebaix is a Swiss association carrying out evaluations, accompanying learning processes and consulting for organizations and individuals on programs in humanitarian aid and in relation with long-term development cooperation.
Between 2013 and 2015 the association was accompanying a cross-organizational learning process with different Swiss organizations. Reconstruction programs in six countries were assessed with a long term perspective. In cooperation with different Swiss organizations various approaches for successful learning were applied:
- Learning in a safe environment
- Learning directly from the affected people
- Learning from a long term perspective
- Learning with films
Since 2016, ebaix is working on a training course in humanitarian aid (CAS) in co-operation with the University of Bern, Swiss Solidarity and NGOs from Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Luxembourg. The goal is a very practice-oriented course with a balanced physical presence and e-learning.
Three different main target groups are to be served: practitioners with several years of experience in humanitarian aid, young professionals, and professionals from development cooperation with no experience in hamnitarian aid, but who are interested in or are prepared by the organizations for future humanitarian tasks.
Many organizations surveyed today do not have their own junior staff. The gap between the often high level of academic training and the mostly non-existent or low field experience is very great and is growing ever greater. This is why for the juniors an 8-10-month internship is required, which should be organized and provided by the organizations.
